Anna-Louisa is a Dutch-Brazilian transition designer, researcher, thought leader and keynote speaker based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Through mixed methods and deep understanding of human behaviour, she reframes problematic societal issues to reveal pathways for transformative action in transitions. Her interdisciplinary, creative and strategic approach connects long term ambitions to concrete interventions in the present – she helps translate hope to action.
Anna-Louisa grew up across the Netherlands, Brazil and the United States. She has a background in Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. After completing her Masters in Design for Interaction, she worked as a strategic design consultant for eight years – both in-house at the Rabobank and as an external consultant for service design agency Livework. During her years of consultancy, she helped a broad range of public and private organisations develop their design, UX and IT capabilities.
Anna-Louisa returned to academia in 2021 to pursue a PhD in transition design. During this time, she worked at the cross-section of transition studies, design, behavioural science and food systems research. She gained particular expertise around systemic breakdown in societies as well as the protein transition, i.e. the dietary shift away from animal proteins towards (mostly) plant-based alternatives.
